Book club....the other one

Kellie! "Book of a Thousand Days" was a great read. I loved it.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, July 12 at Bethany Ostler's house.

In true Bethany style, she has chosen: "Secrets of the Jedi" by Jude Watson. To be a Jedi is to safeguard peace in the galaxy. To be a Jedi is to defend justice against tyranny. To be a Jedi is to rely on the Force. To be a Jedi is to not love or live as normal people do…at whatever the price.

Jedi know that love is not meant to be for them. But when Obi-Wan Kenobi and his fellow apprentice Siri Tachi approach a very Human falling, the reverberations are felt for many years…to when Obi-Wan has an apprentice of his own, Anakin Skywalker, whose secrets will draw Obi-Wan and Siri further into the Clone Wars.

There is a little Jedi in each of us. I have 4 of them walking around my house. This book should be a great read.

I also think that we should come up with a name for our book club so as to not confuse it with the other book club. We can also do a little more discussing of possibly changing the day that we meet. Tell your hubby to skip basketball this one time. (wink to Jenny!)

Get in touch with the force and get this book. Can't wait to see you all there!!

Kids Pottery Class

Greetings!

I’m a little late in sending this out, but don’t miss this opportunity! I’ve found nothing comparable in variety and price for kids in the ABQ area. The class is located at my home studio on the NW side of town and I hope to have between 3 and 5 students.

Kids Pottery Class

Ages 6 & up

Monday, JULY 18th -- Thursday, July 21st,1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

AND Friday, July 29th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Cost: $90

Students will experience the fun and variety of clay. We will explore making nature prints, coil pots, sculptures, masks, and also learn how to throw pots on the wheel. The cost includes all clay, glazes, and firing. Your children are welcome to make as much as they would like in our time together and are not limited to the project of the day.

Glazing of the final pieces is done on the Friday of the week following the week of the camp to allow adequate drying and firing time. Final pieces are available for pick up the week after the final firing.

**I’m limiting the class to one session, but if you are interested in doing a pottery class, but can’t accommodate these dates, please let me know and we could possibly schedule another session.

Please email me or call for registration form. Deadline for registration is July 9th.

Friday flag football

Hey mothers of boys ages 9-12! Kobe wanted to get something started this summer as far as getting boys together to play a variety of sports.

So this Friday around 10:00am at Terrazas Park we will be playing flag football. All boys ages 9-12 who are interested are welcome and invited.

Bring water, as it is starting to warm up by that time.

Also, if you think about it, leave a comment or shoot be an email (stef.burns at gmail.com) that way we can make sure that we have enough equipment and boys to have a successful time.

Thanks!

FYI, I am going crazy. Anyone else???

Book Club

We have an open-invite book club that we've (Ventana Ranch area members) been holding for about 3 years now and I thought I'd post the info on here in case you're interested in coming.

Book club meets this Thursday night at 7:30 in my gazebo in the backyard (pending the wind- if it's too annoying we'll tromp inside). Bring a jacket/blanket because it'll be down around 60 or so. We're discussing "The Graveyard Book" by Neil Gaiman. Come even if you didn't read it to hear about a fun book (or just come later to socialize- we finish the book discussion usually before 9.) Treats and newcomers are always welcome. Stay as long as you like. Chit-chat ends anywhere from 10:30-midnight.
Next Month's book: The Parenting Breakthrough by Merilee Brown Boyack. We meet the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7:30. Discussion is held in my backyard during the warm months. melissa dot lee dot spencer at gmail dot com for more info.

Sunshine Generation Summer Camp

Singing, choreography, full-showmanship, confidence and fun for kids...

Sunshine Generation Summer Camp in Ventana Ranch Area.....

I am a mom of 4 kids in the Ventana Ranch Ward, and am the director of this incredible program. I've been teaching singing/dancing classes for over 12 years. We only have 9 spots left. (see information below)

Hi!

Welcome to the Sunshine Generation experience! We are a National Children’s Performing Group and we sing, dance, and learn skills and talents in the performing arts in a way like no other! Our group is open to ALL children for we have no auditions. We feel that tryouts place too much pressure on young children. We are most concerned with building self-esteem in each child! The experience is open to boys and girls of all ages.

Sunshine Camp is a week long summer camp filled with wholesome and exciting music. Our Sunshine Camp program consists of classes taught everyday for one week. The children learn routines to Popular, Broadway, Country and Old Favorite songs. The material is professionally prepared and expressly picked according to your children’s interest and ability level.

In the camp will divide the students according to age and will include special workshops, snack time, activities; and the majority of the time spent on learning the songs they will perform at the culminating event at the end of the week. The Sunshine camp gives each student the opportunity in one week to accomplish what our regular programs accomplish in 3 months! The Summer Camp gives your children the opportunity for a total of 3 months experience in one package. This enables families the flexibility as they plan summer vacations.

After we learn our show in the summer camp, we will perform at the end of the week for family, friends and the community, and your child will have an opportunity to participate on our float in the Rio Rancho Parade on July 4th. These performances serve a two-fold purpose: (1) to benefit and become a part of our community, and (2) to give the children an opportunity to perform; thus developing their talents, showmanship and self confidence while growing musically.

We are excited to be able to offer Sunshine Generation in this community, and would love to help your child develop his or her talents as well as build their self-esteem. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Included in the camp fee is a student practice cd, and a t-shirt which they will wear to perform at the end of the week performance, and the float on the 4th of July.

Come and join us—We promise fun!!

Your child's camp will be held at the Family Church in the NE corner of Paradise and Universe. (Near the Dollar Tree). Sunshine Generation is not affiliated with any religion. We are renting space from them to meet the needs of our camp size.
9:00-11:30 a.m.

I look forward to meeting you!

Rental Needed

We have some friends moving into Albuquerque around the first of July and they are having a hard time finding a place to rent. They are looking for a home in West Albuquerque and would love to be in the Ventana area. They're trying to find a 3-4 bedroom home for around $1300. If you know of anything that will be available at that time please let us know and we will pass the information along. Thanks for the help!! jenchisholm1 (at) yahoo (dot) com.
